We pay close attention to every stage of the manufacturing process—from hand-selecting each board to carefully firing and sanding the wood using the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique.

For centuries, Shou Sugi Ban has been used to protect and preserve wood through controlled charring. The process creates a distinctive finish that enhances the natural grain and produces exceptional depth of color.

The result is a striking combination of natural wood character, texture, and contrast—an aesthetic inspired by the philosophy that controlled stress can create strength and resilience, much like the hormetic stress associated with cold-water exposure.
